To mark the International Media Ethics Day called by Center for International Media Ethics (CIME), Center for Media Research – Nepal (CMR-Nepal) hosted a program at Union House, Kathmandu on September 21.

Kashi Raj Dahal, who is a media law expert and author of several books on media ethics and laws, was the chief guest of the program attended by Manrishi Dhital, a member of Press Council Nepal, journalists from various media organizations and media teachers.

CMR-Nepal secretary Bhuwan KC welcomed all the participants at the beginning. Rishikesh Dahal, lecturer as the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Nepal’s largest Tribhuvan University, outlined media ethics and situation of ethical practices in Nepali media during his presentation.

The participants then shared their own experiences, opinions and ideas about media ethics and its implications in Nepali media. The discussion was moderated by Tilak Pathak, vice-chair of CMR-Nepal.

Kashi Raj Dahal then gave a keynote speech on media ethics highlighting its historical roots, principle ideas and variations, importance in media.

CMR-Nepal chair and CIME Ambassador in Nepal Ujjwal Acharya concluded the program urging all journalists to be ethical despite all challenges and situations.

The program was followed by a socializing dinner.
